Hotel and resort website design

Every hotel has the same arithmetic problem: the travel portals bring the guests and take fifteen to twenty-five percent of the room rate for doing it. Your own website cannot replace them, and it does not need to. It needs to convert the guest who has already found you on a portal and is now checking whether booking direct is better — because a meaningful share of them do exactly that before booking.

See it working

Judge the work before you talk to us.

Room types with tariffs, a date-based availability enquiry and experiences that justify the rate.

It is a real site, not screenshots. Open it on your phone, use the navigation, start a booking and stop where you like. Nothing is faked and nothing is behind a form.

What it has to do

What this kind of website has to get right.

These are the things that decide whether the site pays for itself. We would apply them whether or not you hire us, so they are written to be useful on their own.

  1. Rooms shown properly, with tariffs

Each room type with real photographs, what is in it, how many it sleeps and the rate basis. Guests compare this against the portal listing side by side, and anything missing sends them back to the portal.

  2. A clear reason to book direct

Best rate, a free upgrade, late checkout, breakfast included, flexible cancellation. Guests will book direct if given a reason, and most hotel sites never give one.

  3. Date-driven enquiry or live availability

A guest thinks in dates. Whether it goes to a live booking engine or to a dated enquiry, the first thing the site asks should be when they are coming and how many.

  4. The location and the experience sold, not just the room

Nobody chooses a resort for its mattress. What there is to do, how far the airport is, what the property is like at different times of year — this is the content that both persuades and ranks.

  5. Fast on a weak connection

Hospitality sites are the heaviest on the web and are frequently opened on hotel wifi, aeroplane connections and mobile data abroad. A slow site loses the booking to the portal, which is never slow.

How the price is decided

Every project is quoted individually against a written scope, because a five-page site and a fifty-page site are not the same job. You get one fixed price and a delivery date before any payment — no hourly billing, and no line items appearing at the end. If something you have asked for is not worth building yet, we will say so and take it out of the number.

Before you ask

Questions we get from travel & stay clients.

Can the site connect to our channel manager or booking engine?
Yes. Most channel managers and booking engines provide an embeddable engine or an API, and we connect to whichever you already use so rates and availability stay in one place. Smaller properties often do better with a dated enquiry and a human reply, which converts well and costs nothing per booking.
Will a website really reduce our commission bill?
Partly, and honestly it is worth being realistic. Portals will keep bringing you guests who have never heard of you. What a good direct site captures is the returning guest and the one who found you on a portal and then searched your name — that traffic is already yours, and it is the cheapest revenue a hotel has.
We are a small homestay, not a resort. Is this over-specified?
The structure scales down. A homestay needs fewer room types and no booking engine, but the same fundamentals: real photographs, honest tariffs, the location sold properly and a dated enquiry. Often it is a simpler and cheaper build.
Do we need the site in more than one language?
If a meaningful share of your guests arrive from a country that does not read English comfortably, yes, and it is one of the highest-return additions in hospitality. It needs proper language markup so search engines serve the right version rather than treating them as duplicates.
